Keeping an Eye Out For Art

Keeping an Eye Out For Art

Banksy was true to his word. He was in Bristol on Sunday, and then he posted a new picture on his website. He doesn’t say a lot in his blog entries, does he? The new art work is called Mobile Lovers and is a witty social comment, as usual.
Freshly painted as pictured on

My snap of it from yesterday,
a few days before it got sprayed
with red paint...

Anyway, while I was there yesterday I bumped into a cheery chap called Dennis at the youth club round the corner from where Banksy painted his Clement Street mural. I was in Bristol on a trip from next weekend - it’s a long story, and time travel is exhaustingly complicated. I suggested they should take it down and give it a safe place away from the miserable vandals that would spray over it.
They are asking for a donation in aid of the Riverside Youth Project. I texted Banksy to ask if that’s what he had planned all along. All I got by way of a reply was another one of those indecipherable glyphs... ;-)
This is what was in place of the mural later yesterday just before I went back to next Sunday...
Well, someone’s got to keep an eye out for art. There are Phyllis Steins everywhere. Here’s to raising money for a good cause. Cheers, Banksy!
